Kettlebells are one of the simplest and most versatile pieces of equipment you can add to a home gym.
With a few kettlebells, you can train strength, conditioning, power, grip, mobility, and endurance without taking up much space. Swings, cleans, snatches, presses, squats, carries, rows—the list goes on.
But while kettlebells may look simple, not every kettlebell is made the same.
The quality of the casting, handle, base, coating, and finishing process can dramatically change how a kettlebell feels in your hands and performs over years of training.
That's exactly what we've focused on with the GIANT V3 Kettlebell Series.
What Makes a Great Kettlebell?
When you're comparing kettlebells for your home gym, don't look at price alone.
There are several details we believe are worth paying attention to:
- A smooth, comfortable handle
- A durable finish with good grip
- A flat and stable base
- Consistent casting and surface quality
- A wide range of available weights
- Quality control throughout manufacturing
- A price that makes building a complete set realistic
These details might seem small when you're shopping online. Once you start putting hundreds or thousands of reps on a kettlebell, they matter.
GIANT Kettlebells Start With Gravity Casting
Our newest GIANT Kettlebells are gravity cast, allowing molten iron to naturally fill the mold under the force of gravity.
But the casting itself is only the beginning.
We believe what happens after a kettlebell is cast is just as important as how it was cast.
That's where our finishing and quality-control process comes in.
Every Kettlebell Is Individually Examined
One of the biggest areas of focus for GIANT is consistency across the entire kettlebell lineup.
Every kettlebell is examined during the finishing process before receiving its final coating.
We pay particular attention to three areas:
The Handle: Handles are inspected and ground where needed to create a smooth gripping surface. Rough seams and imperfections can become very noticeable during high-repetition swings, cleans, and snatches.
The Base: The bottom is finished to create a smooth, flat surface. A stable base becomes especially important for exercises where the kettlebell starts or finishes on the floor.
The Body: The casting itself is examined for surface quality before painting. We want a clean, consistent appearance before the final finish is applied—not simply a coating covering up poor finishing underneath.
This creates multiple QC touchpoints throughout production rather than relying solely on an inspection at the end.
Durable Powder-Coated Finish
GIANT Kettlebells feature a durable powder-coated finish designed to provide consistent quality, appearance, and feel throughout the lineup.
For us, the coating needs to accomplish two things.
It needs to hold up to real training, and it needs to provide a surface that feels good in your hands.
Kettlebells get used hard. They're swung, cleaned, pressed, carried, put down, picked back up, and exposed to sweat on a regular basis.
That's why we chose a powder-coated finish designed around actual training rather than appearance alone.
Garage Gym Reviews Put the GIANT V3 to the Test
You don't have to take our word for it.
Garage Gym Reviews included the GIANT Lifting V3 Kettlebells in its testing and comparison of some of the best kettlebells on the market.
Garage Gym Reviews described the GIANT V3 Kettlebells as a durable option with color-coded handles for easy weight identification and noted that the broad weight selection makes them suitable for lifters across experience levels.
Their tester specifically called out the grip and powder coating:
“You get a great grip with this, and it feels like the coating can take a beating along with your workout. The black powder coating is helpful with sweaty hands.”

That's important to us because grip and durability are exactly what our powder-coated finish is designed to deliver.
Color-Coded Handles Make Finding Your Weight Easy
If you own one kettlebell, identifying your weight isn't difficult.
Build an entire kettlebell set, however, and things change.
That's why GIANT Kettlebells use color-coded weight identification.
It makes it easier to quickly distinguish weights when multiple kettlebells are lined up in your home gym, particularly during circuits or workouts that require several different weights.
It's a simple detail, but it's one you'll appreciate once you've built out a larger collection.
A Kettlebell Range You Can Grow Into
One of the advantages of building a kettlebell set is that you don't have to purchase everything at once.
Our current KG Series offers a broad progression ranging from approximately 9 LB to 106 LB.
That allows you to use lighter kettlebells for movements such as technique work, accessory exercises, and conditioning while progressing into heavier weights for:
Swings • Goblet Squats • Carries • Cleans • Presses • Rows • Deadlifts • Strength Training
Instead of outgrowing your kettlebell collection, you can continue adding heavier bells as your strength improves.
Coming November 2026: GIANT LB Kettlebells
We're also expanding the GIANT kettlebell lineup.
Beginning November 2026, GIANT will introduce a dedicated LB Kettlebell Series from 5 LB through 50 LB in every 5-pound increment:
5 • 10 • 15 • 20 • 25 • 30 • 35 • 40 • 45 • 50 LB
Why add an LB series when we already offer kettlebells based around traditional KG increments?
Simple.
Many home gym owners in the United States think about their training in pounds.
If your program calls for a 30-pound kettlebell, sometimes you just want to grab a 30 LB kettlebell instead of figuring out the closest kilogram equivalent.
With both KG and LB options, you'll be able to choose the progression that makes the most sense for the way you train.
Should You Buy Individual Kettlebells or a Kettlebell Set?
If you're just getting started, you don't necessarily need an entire rack of kettlebells.
A few strategically selected weights can provide an incredible amount of training variety.
As you progress, however, building a kettlebell set has some major advantages.
Different movements require dramatically different loads. The kettlebell you press overhead may be much lighter than the one you use for two-handed swings or heavy carries.
Having several weights also makes it easier to progressively overload movements instead of making large jumps from one kettlebell to another.
For a dedicated home gym, we generally recommend building your set over time around the movements you actually perform.
Start with the weights you'll use most frequently and add lighter or heavier options as your training evolves.
KG vs. LB Kettlebells: Which Should You Choose?
Neither measurement system makes the kettlebell itself better.
It comes down to how you prefer to train.
KG kettlebells follow the traditional kettlebell weight system and provide access to our broadest range, including substantially heavier options.
LB kettlebells will provide familiar 5-pound increments from 5–50 LB, making progression extremely straightforward for lifters accustomed to pounds.
For serious kettlebell training and heavier swings and carries, our KG lineup provides plenty of room to grow.
For general strength training, home gym workouts, accessory movements, and customers who simply prefer pounds, our upcoming LB lineup provides an incredibly straightforward progression.
