GIANT BD3X Axis 4-Post - Half Rack Functional Trainer (Short)
BD3X AXIS Rack — Built to Grow With You
The BD3X AXIS Rack is a fully modular rack system that’s designed out of the box to elevate your training. Built with massive 11 gauge 3"x3" uprights, 2" hole spacing, and 1" diameter holes this rack plays well with a ton of popular components and accessories out there, including our BD3X series options.
We created this rack to hit the sweet spot between value and performance. It’s solid where it counts and completely overbuilt for years of hard training.
Color Options:
Every rack comes with three upright color options, but all the crossmembers come as space black.
(Space Black & Bright Red)

What sets it apart?
A fluid cable pulley system powered by heavy-duty machined steel guide rails—not the hollow kind. These rails connect to a precision aluminum bracket that cuts down the wobble and keeps the weight stack perfectly aligned. It’s one of those small details that make a big difference—and yeah, we made sure not to overlook it.
The cable pulley system wouldn't be smooth without aluminum bearing pulleys and a 1,000 lb capacity wiring system. We built this system to be affordable out of the gate.
Start with a dual 160 lb weight stacks (320 lbs total) or a dual 210 lb weight stacks (420 lbs total). If you start with a 160 lb dual stack and want to upgrade the stack to 210 lbs later, we will launch a conversion kit in the coming months whenever you're ready—easy upgrade, no hassle.
Out of the box, your AXIS Half Rack includes:
All of your functional trainer component needs for assembly
Your Choice: 160lb or 210lb Dual Weight Stacks (2:1 Ratio)
Pair of newly designed 3X 2.0 J-cups
Rubber-Coated D-handles
A 1.25" EZ Grip standard pull-up bar
Massive 1" black zinc hardware throughout the rack
Key Features:
The AXIS System runs on 3/16" (.1875") aircraft-grade cables— and nylon-coated for long-term durability. These premium 7-strand, 19-wire cables offer the perfect mix of resilience and flexibility, built to handle constant movement over pulleys and wraps around your rack with authority. Every AXIS rack is decked out with ball-bearing aluminum pulleys—for the smoothest pulls possible. Because let’s be honest: lifting’s already hard enough.
Peep Hole
Eliminate the guesswork with a peephole that aligns perfectly with the laser-cut numbers on the rack’s upright—making height adjustments quick, easy, and accurate.
Locking Pin
To top it off, we’ve included an oversized locking pin. It's intentionally overbuilt so you won’t have to fumble with multiple pins when adjusting height—just one pin, rock-solid, every time.
Knurled Handle
Everything’s better with knurling—so we added a light aggressive volcano pattern to the trolley handle for a solid, no-slip grip when adjusting along the rack.

Rods & Weight Plates
Let’s be real—guide rods and weight stacks aren’t the sexiest part of a functional trainer. But when it comes to getting the smoothest pull possible, they’re absolutely critical. We found that solid machined steel rods (not hollow) are a must. Hollow rods create reverberation and allow for side-to-side movement, which messes with the feel and adds noise.
After a ton of testing, we landed on plastic-lined weight plates that make precise contact with the rods, dramatically reducing movement and making each pull feel smooth. To take it even further, we added an aluminum alignment connector on the top plate to keep everything perfectly in line from top to bottom along the rod. You may not think about rods and plates while you’re lifting—but trust us, you’ll feel the difference. We obsessed over the details so you can stay focused on lifting.

Fantastic deal. We love the equipment and pickup was easy! Very helpful staff.
The product itself is outstanding and works as described. The setup and some minor flaws with the accessories bring it down a notch.
There was a screw missing from one of the spotter arms and a j-cup with a misaligned screw that had to be removed so the j-cup could set properly. The setup instructions was a video I found online and followed ,otherwise, it would have been a guessing game.
The stand works as described with the smoothest cable system I've ever owned and looks awesome in my workout space. Worth the investment.
I wanted to optimize the floor space in my garage. I had a 6 post rack and separate functional trainer. Decided on the Giant rack with functional trainer because of the price and quality of the rack. I try to watch assembly videos before purchasing so I can see all the little details. After watching almost every manufactures videos, went with Giant. This was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!!!
I’ve been planning to build a garage gym for years, and the process was anything but quick—I spent countless hours watching YouTube reviews, comparing specs, filling carts on different sites, measuring my space, and second-guessing every decision. Then, during Black Friday week, I stumbled upon the Giant Fitness and their BD3X Axis 4-Post - Half Rack Functional Trainer, and it immediately stood out as the perfect solution.
Functionality: This bundle combines a half rack with a functional trainer, giving me everything I need for barbell work and cable exercises in one footprint. The specs are in alignment with leading industry standards which will give me versatility with attachments down the road. It has 3x3 uprights with 1-inch holes and 11-gauge steel... perfect.
Value: The price was significantly lower than similar offerings from Rogue, Rep, and other big names— and to my delight I found without sacrificing quality. That was a huge factor for me and I'm very pleased.
I also opted for the bundle, which included essentials like spotter arms and front foot stubs—items I knew I’d need anyway. This saved me time and money upfront.
Ordering & Delivery Experience
I placed my order on Friday, Nov 28, and everything arrived by Thursday, Dec 4—incredibly fast turnaround, especially with free shipping. The shipping company called on Dec 1 to confirm my availability, and I received real-time updates from the driver on delivery day. When the truck pulled up, it felt like Christmas morning—an impressive stack of well-labeled boxes, each featuring a picture of the part inside. That attention to detail made organizing and prepping for assembly so much easier.
Assembly Process
After some garage painting and organizing, I tackled assembly solo. GIANT’s step-by-step YouTube video was a lifesaver—I didn’t even crack open the written instructions. The process was straightforward and enjoyable, especially since I’d been anticipating this build for so long. Pro Tip: Before starting, grab two large sockets or wrenches—the bolts and nuts are massive. Once you have the right tools, assembly is simply a matter of following the video step by step. Once assembled, I was blown away by the quality.
Cable System: Exceptionally smooth—feels like commercial-grade equipment.
Weight Stacks: I initially ordered 160 lbs but quickly realized I wanted more. I called GIANT, and they made the upgrade to 210 lbs effortless—just invoiced me for the difference and updated the order correctly.
Stability: The front foot stubs add peace of mind against tip-overs, and the entire unit is heavy and solid. This thing isn’t going anywhere.
Finish: Looks fantastic—clean welds, durable coating, and an overall premium feel. Everything is well-packed in bubble wrap and the cardboard boxes are thick. Nothing arrived damaged.
This purchase was the perfect launch point for my home gym build. All around it has rock-solid build quality, and unbeatable value. If you’re serious about creating a versatile garage gym, I can’t recommend this setup enough. It’s going to last for years, and I’m absolutely thrilled with it. Now I just need a bar, bench and bumpers!
I haven't received my product yet.
