GIANT Rackable Curl Bar 2.0

Checking availability

The GIANT Rackable Curl Bar 2.0 has grip knurling throughout the the working area of the barbell.  We knurled the curves so grip is never an issue again!  Now, your hands won't slip around doing classic curling and tricep movements such as (not comprehensive): standard curls, hammer curls, close-grip, wide-grip, and skull crushers.

The best part about a rackable curl bar is that its rackable on a standard power rack. We made the distance between the inside of the collars of the barbell 51.5" wide which will fit just about any rack.  Being rackable, makes it easier for loading and unloading the barbell and of course less wasted movement for your exercises.  Is it necessary?  Nope.  Some might close the garage door while lifting on this barbell, but I say open the doors and let everyone see your biceps and triceps in all their glory.

We ended the knurling prior to where most racks jcups meet the barbell to save your cups from getting chewed up.  Also, with 10.5" of room for loading up plates there is no shortage for loading up additional weight.

Rackable curl bar 2.0

Giant
I spent a LOT of time looking at curl bars and their reviews before choosing this one. The main things I was looking at was the curves, whether it is rackable or not, and the shaft coating.

I was not sure if I cared for it to be rackable or not. Is it being rackable for my needs necessary? Not at all. After using this one did I realize it’s so nice and convenient? Absolutely! I’m very glad I went with rackable.

The four rackable bars I looked at most was giant, titan, rep, and rogue. Titan’s curves and bright chrome got them off the list first. Different brands coatings are not all the same quality, but according to Rogue’s website, best coatings to reduce rust go stainless, cerakote, e-coat, zinc, chrome, black oxide, and lastly bare steel. This bar is black zinc. I got the bar for $161.49 after using a discount code. It’s priced at $169.99 at the time of this review. I appreciate the support of the first responders, military and teachers. Rep’s chrome bar is a worse coating and costs $200. Their stainless steel bar is $300, which I just wasn’t willing to pay for a curl bar. Rogue’s e-coat is $265 and cerakote is $305. Again, just thought that was a bit much, especially after finding this one. I think the quality and price combo of this bar is really good.

After seeing this bar in person, the coating looks super nice and it doesn’t dull down the knurl too much. I think the knurling feels good. Not too passive or aggressive. I also like that the middle is smooth for drag curls.

The sleeves have way more than enough room for anything I’ll do with it. I’m 5’11”, 235 lbs and the bar feels a good size to me. The 28 mm diameter of the bar seems good. I wasn’t sure if reps 30 mm would be better, but now I don’t think so.

When the bar arrived, the box was damaged and the bar had a very small spot of damage on the larger part of the sleeve (pictured). It is hardly noticeable and the bar is still beautiful. I wouldn’t take a star away for that slight of damage.

I weighed the bar and it weighs 35.2 pounds. I consider that money, especially since I don’t know that my scale is perfectly accurate.

I ordered the bar on Thursday, 4/18 and it arrived Monday, 4/22.

After getting this bar, I’ll likely be buying more giant in the future.
